The hiking trail Franciskusleden goes through a very beautiful landscape near lake Vättern. Here you can walk in a thriving countryside with great atmosphere and an interesting story.
Along the trail Franciskusleden, the drifters have previously walked, kings have ridden their Eriksgata, pilgrims searched for Vadstena and sometimes even longer. Franciskusleden is part of a network of pilgrim lead in Sweden and Europe, a link between Santiago de Compostella in Spain and Nidaros in Norway. Franciskusleden joins Alvastra to the trail Klosterleden which goes to Vadstena. The hiking trail is 93 km long, but there are good suggestions for day trips. The trail is maintained by Föreningen Franciskusleden.
