Visiting Visingsö on a beautiful autumn day often means a calm that does not occur during the high season. The island is home to about 700 people all year round, but this summer it is tripling.
The ferry over from Gränna runs about once an hour, even this time of year it is good to book. Once on the Visingsö side, you can cycle, just wander around or go for a ride with the car you took with you on the ferry. If you want to rent a bike, it is good to pre-book it some day before you go over. If you choose to bring your bike, you can start by cycling south on the island. Stop at Persgården and their self-service on locally produced goods. Cycle the road down to Borgruinen in Nääs. Here you can enjoy your packed lunch on a blanket by Lake Vättern or take you to the bathing area and sit in the pavilion that is there.
Turn up towards the harbor again and maybe stop for lunch at Visingsö Pensionat or continue up towards Framnäs and eat there. At Gladhytt you can have coffee or pre-order a trip with the Alpacas, there is also a farm shop with locally made products. For menus and exact opening hours, see the respective home or Facebook page.
You who do not take the bike with you but just want to wander around the island, there are three walking trails to explore. Kick the leaves and enjoy the nice colors that the oak forest offers. Bring your lunch bag and find a nice place to rest. Enjoy your packed lunch and listen to the silence.
Welcome to an autumn-beautiful Visingsö
