Liselott Wassborg works with an abstract visual language that portrays sensations and impressions from nature and her own surroundings. Weather, moods and everyday situations are transformed into energy that takes physical expression on the canvas. Her process is intuitive and the result is powerful – from the seemingly disordered fields of color and brushstrokes, an order emerges, an idea: an abstracted landscape.
Gravity and horizon lines are often present in Wassborg's work, not only as a physical principle, but also as a reminder of the experiences and impressions we have stored in our bodies throughout our lives. These elements create a relationship between the objects in the image and give the work a sense of balance and order, even in its most fragmented parts.
Liselott Wassborg was born in Stockholm in 1965 and now lives and works in Eksjö. She received her MFA at Konstfack in 1999 and has since been exhibited at Botkyrka konsthall, Bonniers konsthall, Stockholm, Passagen in Linköping, Nässjö konsthall and Molekyl Galleri in Malmö, among others.
