Myrorna

In my opinion, the best second-hand shop in Jönköping when it comes to clothes is Myrorna on Herkulesvägen. I go here several times a week to browse through hundreds of garments and accessories. And I almost always find something to take home with me.

PMU

In a large building down an escalator in the middle of town is PMU Second Hand. A perfect place to drop in when strolling around central Jönköping. I've made some incredible shoe finds here, everything from Chloé shoes to expensive, fine leather sandals. You need to go here often, sometimes I find lots, sometimes nothing at all. The best second-hand store in town when it comes to shoes.

Röda korset

In the small, beautiful wooden house on Klostergatan is the Red Cross second-hand shop. I go here quite often because it is so close to the Matchbox area where I usually work during the day. I sneak in, take a quick walk around and try on a garment or two before rushing on. Sometimes I find a great bargain, sometimes nothing at all. But I still like to always take a look here. The ladies who volunteer are so nice and are just as happy as I am when I find a bargain.

Deumic skrädderi

Since I buy a lot of second-hand clothes, I of course also find clothes that don't quite fit. Sometimes they're too small, sometimes too big or with the wrong proportions for my height. But I don't despair. Instead, I take my finds to the city's best tailor, Deumic Skrädderi on Borgmästargränd. There are few things they can't fix. A jacket that needs to be sewn in, a skirt that needs to be enlarged a few centimeters and shortened, or a pair of pants that need to be mended or reduced in the waist. I go here often and am always equally satisfied.

Så in i Norden

At Så in i Norden you will find a delightful mix of cool Nordic fashion brands, accessories, jewelry, interior design and shoes. You can also buy a delicious chocolate truffle from Chokladverkstan here in Jönköping. Well worth a visit.

Hedda Gretas

Hedda Gretas External link. Stenugnsbageri has two locations in town. One on Smedjegatan in the middle of the city center and one on Skolgatan, very close to the Tändsticks area. In town, I prefer to hang out with a friend for lunch and order chili and hang out in their cozy backyard.

At their slightly smaller location on Skolgatan, I always buy buns, bread and coffee when I'm celebrating something or visiting Ateljén. I love their buns and wholemeal bread and can't live without their semlor when they're in season.

Lolli Nonna

Lolli Nonna is the city's newest, hottest little Italian joint run by the city's best chef and food creator Tom Jallow. Where Tom goes, I and many others in this city go with me. Since I am a pasta, bread and wine lover of the highest order, you will understand that you will find me here several times every week. I simply never get tired of either Tom's food or the cozy hangout that takes place here, especially in the evenings.

My tip, go here one evening, order a lot of different dishes with your group, share several different bottles of wine and enjoy a noisy, colorful, warm and absolutely wonderful evening. For me, service is always as important as the food in a restaurant, and at Lolli Nonna I always feel at home, and the service is always the very best.

Södra Munksjön

Cycling in Jönköping always means cycling around Munksjön for me, simply because I live on the other side of the small lake. However, it happens far too rarely that I take the time to cycle around the entire lake and look around. But, with the camera at full capacity, I did just that, looked around everywhere. And look how happy and surprised I was when I found new hidden gems, beauties and places I had not seen before.

At Södra Munksjön, super wonderful concerts and events of various kinds are also organized. Something that I unfortunately think that far too few Jönköping residents know about. The murals that appear everywhere along the southern part of the lake, made by Sagie Art, among others, are so incredibly beautiful that I feel completely warm in my soul. I really wish that more people would take the time to stop and really see them as they hurry around the lake.

Glassfabriken

Okay, I love ice cream. I have always loved ice cream. I will always love ice cream. I mainly choose gelato if I have to choose. So for me it is important to be able to recommend the best ice cream in town when you are cycling around here in Jönköping. Of course I have tried it several times and on several occasions. Every time I try it the result is the same.

Jönköping's best gelato is by far at Glassfabriken External link. on Östra Storgatan 48. They're not open all year round and, God forbid, it's not a pretty place (sorry!). Honestly, the decor is awful. But damn, the gelato is magical – so buy your ice cream there and take it out. My favorite flavours are anything that contains nuts and chocolate.

Vätterstranden

Södra Strandgatan from the pier and all the way to Huskvarna. On a hot summer day in Jönköping, there is no activity that beats a day on our mile-long beach, many Jönköping residents probably agree with me. However, we often disagree about where on the beach to lie.

My favorite part of the long, long sandy beach is a swimming area where dogs are allowed, but there are very few dogs there and those that are there don't bother the rest of us. The easiest way to describe how to get there is to take a bike or walk along the promenade from the Pier and east towards Huskvarna. Walk until it starts to change from just big giant rocks to more vegetation and trees.

There are small private beaches with much fewer people than on the open parts of Lake Vätterstranden which are further away. Here I like to spend whole days on a blanket with my husband or my friends. We often also buy a pizza on the way here from Pizzeria San Marino (the best regular pizzeria in town) and share it at sunset. A must on a warm summer evening in town.

Tändsticksområdet

I can't make a Jönköping guide without mentioning my absolute favorite area, the Matchstick area. It's my hoods, where I spend most of my waking working hours. This is where my studio is, here I have my office, but also, above all, my Ateljé, which is my creative space and my shop where I "play business" a few times each week.

In addition, there are several clothing stores, vintage shops, galleries, bars, a co-working space, the Match Museum, a hotel and several restaurants. All in a delightful mix housed in the city's most beautiful premises. Come by the next time you're in town, you know!

Quality Hotel Match

If you are visiting Jönköping and want to spend the night, I recommend that you stay at Quality Hotel Match External link., located in the Match area. It is Jönköping's newest hotel with unparalleled views of both the city and Lake Vättern.
