In collaboration with Destination Jönköping, I’ve had the chance to explore the trails and hidden gems around Gränna – and there’s something for everyone. Some routes are brutally technical, others are almost ridiculously smooth-rolling, but all of them are heartbreakingly beautiful. And right in the middle of it all, there’s something truly unique: a trail that might not be extreme – but will stay with you.
I rolled out from BauerGården early one morning. The mist still lingered over Lake Bunn, and the forest smelled of damp moss and pine. I didn’t have high expectations – just a wish to get out and breathe. But it didn’t take long to realise this ride would be something special.
It’s a 25 km trail with 452 metres of elevation. The surface varies between forest paths, gravel roads and a stretch of asphalt – a lovely mix that makes it suitable for many. It’s not a technical trail, so you don’t need to be an experienced mountain biker to enjoy it. In fact, it’s perfect if you want to ride at a gentler pace and still feel completely immersed in nature.
The trail is marked: follow Bauer MTB south and switch to the Vista trail before reaching Kaxholmen – but make sure to download the GPX file to help with navigation.
It’s hard to explain – but you feel it. A quiet freedom in your legs. The scent of forest, moss, earth. Winding paths that feel like a fairytale. And in the middle of it all: a cow or two, curiously watching as you roll by. This is John Bauer country.
📲 Download the GPX file and import it into your GPS or app (Komoot, Ride with GPS, etc.)You’ll find several GPX files for MTB trails in the Gränna area here:https://www.jonkoping.se/fritid-kultur--natur/idrott-motion-och-bad/mountainbike-mtb-och-pumptracks External link.
☕️ Bring snacks and energy – there are plenty of beautiful spots to take a break.
🚲 Don’t feel like riding the same way back and want a quicker return route?Roll back on the asphalt via Ölmstad (approx. 15 km)

Return: Same way back or asphalt route via Ölmstad
Difficulty level: Easy to moderate – suitable for most ridersElevation gain: 452 m
Want to finish strong – or use the trail as a warm-up?
At the end, Vista MTB awaits – a built XC track full of flow, speed, and playfulness. The perfect way to wrap up an otherwise fairly calm ride.
