During the summer months, the trips are frequent and the boats leave about half an hour between each departure. The prices refer to both the round trip to and from Visingsö. You only pay for the round trip and the ticket is valid on the return trip to Gränna and the mainland.

Ebba Brahe – the smaller ferry

Ebba Brahe is the smaller of the two ferries that operate between the two different ports. The boat can take up to 18 cars and 297 passengers. Here you can stand outside on the deck or sit inside in the salons on either side.

The ferry is named after Ebba Magnusson Brahe, who was a lady-in-waiting and countess in the 17th century. But she may have become most famous for the rumors of her romance with King Gustav II Adolf.

Braheborg – the big ferry

Braheborg is the largest ferry and began operating on the route in 2014. The boat has a large deck on two floors where you and your family can sit and enjoy the journey, if you want there is also outdoor seating. There is also coffee to buy on the ferry, as well as a vending machine.

Braheborg can take up to 32 cars and 397 passengers. The ferry can travel up to 13 knots. The name Braheborg comes from the first boat that regularly operated between Gränna and Visingsö.

Good to know when travelling to Visingsö

It can sometimes be good to take your car over to Visingsö, but it is usually better to park it in the harbor on the mainland. On the way down to Gränna harbor you will find two large parking lots, one on the right side and one on the left side.

It is fine to use either one, both cost money, you will see the current rate when you arrive. It is also fine to park here for a whole day.

If you are traveling by bus, you can park on the left side, here there are designated parking spaces for buses, also for a fee.

Pre-booked vehicles go in a special queue, if you have booked by phone, one of the ferry company staff will come out and you can pay with card or cash.

If you have not booked before, there is a special queue for "non-pre-booked vehicles" early on the right side when you drive down to the port.

Here too, the ferry staff will come out and take payment if you can go on the ferry, otherwise you just have to wait for the next trip.

For the younger traveler, the boat trip can be an adventure in itself. It's awesome to discover the boat and explore the expanses and waves that ripple along the keel of the boat.

For those of you traveling without a vehicle and want to take your dog on the boat, it's fine to have your dog out on deck or choose to sit indoors in designated dog lounges.

As part of a sustainability initiative, the ferries on the Visingsöleden are run on hydrogenated vegetable oil, HVO, instead of diesel.

This means emissions are reduced by 80 percent. The ferries also have adjusted departure times and running times to further reduce emissions and fuel consumption.
