Track in the middle of Äppledalen

In the heart of Äppledalen, specifically in the deciduous forest of Kaxholmen, you will find this MTB track. There are several different trails with varying difficulty levels: black, red, blue, green, and a shorter version of the green trail.

The terrain is relatively easy to ride, with challenges consisting of short descents and turns followed by steep but short climbs.

About the track

The track offers a wonderful experience suitable for both beginners and experienced MTB cyclists. Vista is known for its smooth "flow" and from its highest point offers a fun mix of banked turns, winding singletracks, and small jumps and bumps. Along the way, there are also some hills that provide a bit of extra challenge.

Unlike the technically advanced trails at Huskvarnaberget and Hallbystugan, Vista is more accessible and offers an "old school" feel. The natural features of the terrain are used to create a track that brings joy to every MTB enthusiast.

Beautifully located

The track is beautifully situated in what is called Äppledalen. Take the car or bike and follow the old Riksettan towards Gränna. On the way, you pass Brunstorps Café, Rudenstams, and Grafitgrå. Here you can enjoy a coffee or lunch either on your way to or from your cycling adventure.

Parking is easy at Vistavallen, and then you take the path up on the other side of the road. When you reach the illuminated trail, turn right. Shortly after, you will reach the first trail marker. Keep in mind that the trail crosses paths where others walk and run, so be considerate in the forest.

Vista Mountain race

The Vista Mountain race was first held in 1990 and is said to be the first MTB race in Sweden. It was then a collaboration between IK Vista and the cult club CK Revanche. Today, the race is run by Jönköping's cycling club.

The early organization of races at Vista paved the way for the areas around Jönköping, Huskvarna, and Gränna to continue hosting championships at Swedish, Nordic, and European levels.

The Vista Mountain race is still held today in the forests of Kaxholmen. The race traditionally concludes the so-called Västgötacupen and the MTB season every year. The race takes place in October, but it might be most beautiful to cycle here in the spring when the wood anemones are in full bloom.

Äppledalen

North of Huskvarna, you’ll find Småland’s very own Tuscany – Äppledalen, the Apple Valley. Here, over 100,000 apple trees grow at Rudenstams and Vistakulle Fruit Orchards. This idyllic getaway is part of the East Vätterbranterna Biosphere Reserve and offers breathtaking views over Lake Landsjön and Lake Vättern, scenic orchards, nature reserves, local leather craftsmanship, interior design shops, charming countryside cafés, and farm stores. It’s the perfect complement to the buzz of the city.
