At Vesterbrunn, nature is reflected in every dish. All meals are prepared from scratch, highlighting Swedish flavours. The restaurant has a strong passion for traditional Swedish home cooking, with a special emphasis on locally sourced, seasonal, and game ingredients featured on the evening menu.
Vesterbrunn is the perfect choice when you’re hungry, offering a menu rich in fresh, Swedish produce and dishes made from scratch. Beyond traditional fare, vegetarian dishes are a priority, prepared without artificial additives. Flavourful and well-crafted meals are the restaurant’s hallmark.
In addition to lunch and evening service, Vesterbrunn hosts pre-bookable events such as wine tastings and Christmas dinners.
Lunch is served Tuesday through Friday, featuring a selection of dishes focused on traditional Swedish home cooking, using 100% Swedish meat.
In the evenings, the menu transitions to a tasting menu with optional beverage pairings, including a wine package, a local craft beer package, and a juice package featuring homemade and locally sourced drinks. The tasting menu comprises several small dishes with perfectly balanced flavours and seasonal ingredients, all thoughtfully presented by the staff.
The bistro menu offers lighter bites and dishes, while the “Midweek” menu - available Wednesdays and Thursdays - provides a two-course seasonal dining experience.
Situated in the newer Södra Munksjön district, Vesterbrunn offers a picturesque view of Lake Munksjön from both the indoor dining area and the outdoor terrace.
The restaurant is a 30-minute walk from the city center, passing through charming older neighbourhoods like Söder and Torpa, and along the scenic Munksjön promenade.
Though the restaurant itself was established in 2021, the name "Vesterbrunn" has historic roots in the area around Södra Munksjön. In the early 18th century, a natural spring with healing properties was discovered here. Known as a health retreat, it became a social hub for Jönköping residents, much like Vesterbrunn is today - a place to gather, enjoy life, and savour delicious food.
Jönköping is one of Sweden’s oldest cities, beautifully located by the shores of three lakes. Discover magnificent nature, a long sandy beach right in the city, the fascinating history of the match industry, and the magical art of John Bauer! Stroll through charming alleys, visit museums and libraries, explore shops, dine at cosy restaurants, and stay at welcoming hotels. With a university that attracts students from all over the world, the city has a vibrant and international feel. Nature is always close—whether you’re into cycling, forest trails, or peaceful nature reserves.
