Save
If you want to hike a trail that offers beautiful and varied nature, then Södra Vätterleden is for you. The trail is divided into two stages, Mullsjö to Bottnaryd and Bottnaryd to Huskvarna. Along the way, you will pass many interesting places and sights.
Starting in Mullsjö, you hike along the beautiful lake Stråken and then continue through beautiful nature and varied terrain with both sand plateaus and ancient forests. You reach the end of the first stage after 28 kilometers when you arrive in Bottnaryd.
Stage two starts from Bottnaryd's beach and ends at IKHP-stugan in Huskvarna, covering a distance of 49 kilometers. The hiking trail is beautiful and offers a varied environment with both railway and ancient forest.
You hike through the ancient forest in Bottnaryd, and then part of the hike will be on the railway embankment that runs between Jönköping and Ulricehamn. You will pass Jära village, and on your continued hike towards Norrahammar, you can detour to Taberg and why not take a walk up to the top of Taberg.
From Norrahammar and Taberg, the trail continues eastward, passing the nature reserves Strömsberg and Bondberget. You reach the final destination, IKHP, through Huskvarna, where John Bauerleden and then Holavedsleden also connect.
The right of public access (Allemansrätten) allows you to explore Sweden’s nature. This unique privilege is based on shared responsibility, requiring everyone to respect wildlife, nature, landowners, and fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
The hiking trail passes through various nature reserves, for instance Taberg, Bondberget, Huskvarnabergen and Strömsberg. The usual right of public access do not apply fully in nature reserves.
