Bondberget is the wooded height that separates Jönköping from Huskvarna and is a highly appreciated and well-visited outdoor area both in summer and winter. There are plenty of trails and exercise tracks in hiking-friendly terrain, rest areas, shelters, and fireplaces.
In winter, there are also several cross-country ski tracks. The reserve is a perfect destination for both a cosy picnic and a tough exercise challenge.
From several spots, you have an outstanding view over lake Vättern. One of the most beautiful places on Bondberget is an Iron Age grave with a fine view to the west.
For bird enthusiasts, Bondberget offers species such as the Golden Oriole and the Lesser Flycatcher. Among the area's many bushes, you can find bird cherry, hawthorn, hazel, wild apple, and juniper. There are woodland environments, slopes, and ravines with plants such as mezereon, spring onion, ostrich fern, and wood millet.
A suitable place to start your visit to Bondberget, whether you want to hike, run, go on a quiz walk, or Nordic walk, is the outdoor facility Öxnegården. The facility is run by Friluftsfrämjandet and is located 3 km from Huskvarna centre and 7 km from Jönköping centre with a very beautiful location and fine views over lake Vättern and Östra Vätterbranterna. Adjacent to the farm, there is also an outdoor gym and a dog park.
If you choose to climb the mountain from Kungsängen and Ekhagen, you will directly reach rich oak forests and pastures. At Ekhagen, there is a flat walkway suitable for prams, walkers, and wheelchairs.
There are several exercise tracks on Bondberget starting from Öxnegården, ranging from 1.3 to 10 km. Along the illuminated track, there are six stations for Cross-training. At each station, there are also suggestions for various exercises.
A special track for children called Vilses Stig consists of eight stations where you learn what to do if you get lost. For those who are a bit older, there is another special loop called Hälsoleden, which is 3 km long. A walking path called Allemansleden is a track of about 2.3 km with 19 stations where you can now combine a pleasant walk with increasing your knowledge of the Right of Public Access.
Gazing out over Lake Vättern, the giant Vist stands tall in Huskvarna. Here, striking contrasts meet — between stunning natural surroundings and the historic Husqvarna Factory, established in 1689 to produce weapons for the Swedish military. At the Husqvarna Museum, you can explore everything from sewing machines and motorcycles to modern-day chainsaws and lawnmowers. Nearby, Smedbyn offers a charming mix of history, art galleries, and craft studios. Since 1925, Huskvarna Folkets Park has been a beloved venue for music, theatre, festivals, and fairs.
