In several directions there are magnificent views of Lake Vättern just a stone’s throw from a small-scale district with cultural traditions. Here people have shaped the biosphere – the part of earth occupied by living organisms – for thousands of years, and they still are doing so today through active agriculture.

A biosphere area can be compared with a living world heritage site. Unlike a world heritage site, which is based on preserving places and landscapes, within a biosphere the aim is to preserve and develop. Welcome to a living landscape that is unique in the world!
