Parola Malm

Parola Malm is a place with a long history. In 1783 Parola Malm, north east of Kumlaby church, became the landing for the first regular boat connection between Visingsö and the mainland.

In the Middle Ages, the so-called “Kronorodden” appeared, an obligation for the peasants to transport officers, warriors etc when on mission. In order to relive the peasants, the so called “Paquet-boat” was established in 1783, and maintained a regular connection with Gränna for 80 years.

The port facility itself consisted of two bridges. They also acted as a breakwater for waves in hard winds.

Kumlaby Byalag takes care of the place, and today there is a bridge, table and benches, barbeque area and toilet.
