Interactive fairy tale walk in Swedish

Skogstrollens stig in Bankeryd is a 1.4 km interactive fairy tale walk where children can learn about nature in a fun and engaging way. It’s a walk filled with discoveries, joy, and new knowledge about the forest’s animals and plants.

This fairy tale walk winds through the beautiful nature of Vidablick and is a fantastic way to combine adventure, learning, and nature experiences. The trail, maintained by KFUM Jönköping, begins between the soccer field and the pool house at Vidablick, leading down towards Lillån.

With the help of an interactive story, children can discover nature and learn more about plants, animals, and the secrets of the forest. The walk is suitable for preschool and early elementary-aged children and aligns with the goals of Lpfö 18, making it an excellent educational activity for schools and preschools.

Easy access without booking

One of the great benefits of Skogstrollens stig is that it doesn’t require any prior booking. Just head out into the forest, follow the trail, read the story, and enjoy the fantastic nature together with the kids.

If you’d like the entire story in printed format before your walk, it costs 50 SEK and can be collected from any staff member at Vidablick. Learn more about this on KFUM’s website: Forest Troll Trail External link..

Use QR codes for an interactive experience

At each station along the trail, there is a QR code that you can easily scan with your smartphone. Each code takes you to the corresponding section of the story, which you can read and follow. Using the "Next" button, you can move step by step through the stations, making the walk both interactive and educational.

Divide the walk into four stages

To make the fairy tale walk more manageable, especially for younger children, it can be divided into four stages. This allows plenty of time to enjoy each part of the trail and story. Altogether, the walk includes 26 stations, with each stage consisting of 6-8 stations.

Accessibility for everyone

From station 11, located just above the slope near Lillån, the trail is adapted for wheelchair and stroller use, ensuring everyone can participate. At station 25, it may be helpful to have a flashlight to continue.

End with a picnic

After an educational and exciting walk, you can finish the day with a picnic at the tables located at the end of the trail. It’s a perfect way to process all the impressions and talk about what the kids learned during the day!
