If you love cycling and want to enjoy breathtaking natural scenery, this is the perfect route for you. The 420 km long journey takes you through cities, towns, and magnificent landscapes, often with stunning views of Lake Vättern. You can start your ride anywhere along the route.

The route mainly consists of small, low-traffic roads, with approximately 75% paved surfaces.
While some sections take you further inland due to a lack of suitable roads, others bring you so close to the lake that you could almost dip your toes in the water while cycling.

The famous Vätternrundan, the world’s largest cycling event, follows parts of the Runt Vätternleden route.
Held annually in June, Vätternrundan starts and finishes in Motala and is a key part of "En Svensk Klassiker", a Swedish endurance sports challenge.
