Pickleball is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world. At Korpen in Jönköping, you have the chance to try pickleball, which is a mix of tennis, badminton, and table tennis.
Pickleball is suitable for all ages, is a social and fun sport that is easy to learn and challenging enough for experienced players. In recent years, its popularity has increased enormously, and in the USA alone, approximately 5 million people play.
If you are curious to try pickleball, you should contact the association Korpen in Jönköping. Pickleball was invented in the USA as early as 1965, but it was mainly Korpen that started the sport when it came to Sweden in 2017. Korpen's idea is to form a group that plays pickleball for fun and combines exercise with community.
Equipment can be borrowed or purchased from Korpen. Everyone is welcome, both beginners and experienced players. Men and women mix.
You play pickleball on badminton courts that are 13.41 meters long and 6.10 meters wide, but with lowered nets. You use a light and flat racket/paddle made of wood, plastic, or composite material, similar to a beach tennis racket, and hit a perforated plastic ball resembling a floorball over a net.
Matches are played to 11, and you must win by two points. In pickleball, it is most common to play doubles with two players on each team, but singles can also be played.
To learn the rules, which are similar to those in tennis, you can find instructional videos here External link, opens in new window.
