An urban-close hike in Bankeryd through nature paths and along lake Vättern's escarpments
Save
This urban-close hike of 6.3 km takes you along lake Vättern's escarpments and on boardwalks and paths through nature paths and varied mixed coniferous forest. When you reach Tjuvanabben, you are rewarded with a magnificent view over the entire southern Lake Vättern.
Lillåleden, with Tjuvanabben as a viewpoint, runs on paths and boardwalks along lake Vättern and through beautiful nature paths in Bankeryd's community. The total length of the trail is 6.3 kilometers, but it can be divided into two smaller sections: the section along Lillån of 2.6 kilometers, and a loop along lake Vättern and in the forest of 3.7 kilometers. The entire trail of 6.3 kilometers starts at Attarpsbadet. If you choose to only hike the loop, you start at Furuvik.
Lillåleden began construction in the autumn of 2018 at the request of associations and the public. The local heritage association in Bankeryd, together with the Nature Conservation Association, has been active in planning and creating information signs about nature, culture, and local history along the stream.
You can, among other things, learn about the exciting story of why the place Tjuvanabben got its name. A story about Captain Anders Elin, the thief who escaped from the boat on the way to Visingsö and climbed up the cliff to be free. If you want to read up before your hike, you can find the story on the local heritage association's website.
After hiking a bit on the trail, you will reach Tjuvanabben. From here, you have a fantastic view over the entire southern lake Vättern. Tjuvanabben is a protruding cliff with bare rocks just north of Berghalla. There is a rest area with tables and benches, making Tjuvanabben a perfect destination for a picnic.
By car
Lillåleden starts at Attarpsbadet. You can also join the trail from Furuvik or Vidablick. All three starting points offer good parking facilities.
