Huskvarnaåns promenad is a delightful and nature-close walking trail in central Huskvarna. Starting at Rumlaborg, you can choose to walk 2 km towards lake Vättern and the Oset bathing area or 3 km towards Smedbyparken. Whichever direction you choose, the walking trail is packed with attractions along the way.

From lake Vättern, through the entire Huskvarna, and far beyond the municipal border, Huskvarnaån winds its way. The stream offers rich birdlife, nationally valuable water for fishing, and lush greenery. Along the stream runs an easily accessible and pleasant walking trail, packed with attractions and experiences.

Several attractions along the way

On the 5 km that Huskvarnaåns promenad totals, there is a plethora of attractions and experiences. To the north, where Huskvarnaån flows into lake Vättern, lies the Oset bathing area, which in summer has a kiosk, kayak rental, and plenty of swimming visitors. Right next to it is also the Oset marina with idyllic small red boathouses.

You also pass the remnants of the fort Rumlaborg. Today, the area consists of a large green space with a beautiful pavilion on top of the ramparts, the remaining moats testify to the time when it was a strategically important place and Rumlaborg a mighty fort stretching from Brunstorp in the north to Huskvarnaån in the south.

South of Rumlaborg, the walking trail passes Huskvarna Church, the popular Vapenvallen, and finally Smedbyparken. At Smedbyparken, there is a playground, barbecue areas, and several benches and tables under cover. A small hill up lies the historic Smedbyn with its red artisan cottages. Across the road from Smedbyparken, you will also find the Husqvarna Museum.

Extend your walk with Pustaleden

Starting at the Husqvarna Museum, right at the end of Huskvarnaåns promenad, is Huskvarna's most city-close hiking trail, Pustaleden. The trail is a 1.8 km long, intense, and rewarding hiking trail. With 100 meters of elevation, it is challenging in places with several bridges and steep stairs. The scenic trail runs through lush deciduous forests and past giant trees, protected beeches, and 300-year-old oaks.

The right of public access (Allemansrätten) allows you to explore Sweden’s nature. This unique privilege is based on shared responsibility, requiring everyone to respect wildlife, nature, landowners, and fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
