Hike close to nature and the lakes – yet centrally located to Jönköping
Save
Sometimes you don't want to go far to enjoy a lovely hike, which is one of the advantages of Jönköping, where nature is just around the corner. Another advantage of the city is its three city-close lakes, so why not take a tour around Munksjön, Rocksjön, or along Vätterstranden.
From the southern tip of the lake, at the restaurant-dense Atollen, you can start your city-close hike around Munksjön. The trail is about 5 km long and takes you through parts of urban areas as well as through scenic environments.
Along the trail, there are two outdoor gyms and several spots to stop and look out over the water. There is also a quiz walk along the trail that is updated weekly. Read more about Xrundan here External link, opens in new window.
Rocksjön is just a stone's throw from the city center. Here, you can start your hike at Knektaparken and walk counterclockwise or clockwise. The 4 km long trail takes you through scenic areas and out onto boardwalks. Be sure to bring your camera!
Along this lake, you can also take part in a quiz walk from Xrundan.
All the way from Jönköping canoe club in western Jönköping to the railway underpass at Strand restaurant, you can enjoy the presence of lake Vättern and beautiful views thanks to a beach-close walking and cycling path of about 3 km.
The walking trail runs right next to lake Vättern, past several cozy small beaches and our large, city-close sandy beach. If you want a longer walk, about 10 km, the same walking and cycling path extends to Strandängen west of central Jönköping to Oset bathing area and marina in Huskvarna.
Just west of the city, you will find Dunkehallaleden, a trail that starts quite steeply and follows the river up the hill. The trail continues through Dalviksparken and on to Klämmestorp, where Hallbyleden connects. A scenic hike with beautiful views along the way. The trail is just over 1 km.
Pustaleden is a shorter trail of 1.7 km in central Huskvarna. This somewhat challenging hiking trail takes you to attractions along Huskvarnaån and several culturally and historically valuable buildings such as Smedbyn, Husqvarna AB, and Ebbes power station.
Just south of Jönköping, you will find Strömsbergsskogen, which offers wonderful nature and fine hiking trails. The forest consists of several different circular trails of varying lengths.
From Jönköping's southern districts of Gräshagen and Tokarp, you can choose a steep path to the west. This will lead you into varied forests with spruce, old oaks, marshes, and babbling brooks with springs in the Vattenledningsområdet.
There are plenty of paths here that lead you past alder marshes and over forest streams to glades and fields. Read more about Vattenledningsområdet here
