Peppermint rock candy factory and restaurant by the Brahehus ruin

At Brahehus Polkagriskokeri, peppermint rock candy are made from scratch. With candy sticks, caramels, and lollipops in various flavours and shapes, there is something for everyone. Every weekend, visitors can see the production in full swing, and of course, there are samples of the freshly made sweets.
The shop at Brahehus is filled with a wide range of candy canes and other sweets. Here, you will find candy cane caramels, luxurious marmalades, and locally made products from popular brands such as Narr Choklad, Grännaknäcke, and Börslycke Gård.
Brahehus Polkagriskokeri is an excellent excursion destination for the whole family. With generous opening hours from early morning to evening every day of the week, visitors can easily find a time that suits them.
You can also combine your visit to Brahehus Polkagriskokeri with a restaurant visit. In the same building as the factory, there is Brahehus Restaurant, offering everything from Italian to Swedish home cooking, prepared with care and carefully selected ingredients.
A stone's throw from the factory and restaurant, you will find the ruin of Brahehus, Per Brahe's site for hosting parties, which he never got to live in before it burned down. Right next to it, there is also a petrol station and a rest area with tables and benches.
Peppermint rock candy production started in 1859 by the then poor widow Amalia Erikson, who later became a successful entrepreneur. The then very popular polka dance gave the name to the polkagris, which became Gränna's main hallmark and one of Sweden's most popular souvenirs.

In 2022, Gränna candy canes received the EU designation PGI (Protected Geographical Indication), which means that only peppermint rock candy made in Gränna can be called "Genuine Gränna Polkagris."
