The Ödlan district is part of urban development for southern Munksjön, where a new district, Skeppsbron, is being developed.

Various associations in art and culture operate in the house.

Kvarteret Ödlan also functions as a temporary "nature room" and is a natural starting point for the four nearby nature reserves.
