Say "Scandinavian death metal" and every hard rock fan, and many music enthusiasts in general, will know what you mean. Now Swedish Viking enthusiasts Amon Amarth are joining forces with fellow countrymen The Halo Effect and Finnish neighbors Insomnium. In August, they will embark on the "Heidrun over Sweden Tour 2024".
The Stockholm suburb of Tumba is not just about ice hockey. It's also about metal and Nordic mythology. Since their debut in 1996, Amon Amarth have been spreading their melodic interpretation of death metal, with themes heavily influenced by folklore and Swedish god tales. They are often referred to as one of the pioneers in expanding the Viking metal genre beyond its black metal roots. These are great heroic songs, as melodic as they are harsh, as captivating as they are inspiring.
The band The Halo Effect, with members of In Flames, among others, warm up. So do the dark men of Insomnium. All gigs are outdoors, in the open air. Musical and magical darkness in the middle of the bright Swedish summer night.
