Can anyone resist taking a swim when surrounded by water? There are several lovely outdoor swimming spots around Visingsö, perfect for a dip.
Below are various outdoor swimming spots you can find on Visingsö, both small and large. Different village associations are responsible for maintaining these bathing areas. If you prefer not to swim in the crystal-clear waters of Lake Vättern, Kumlabybadet offers a heated outdoor swimming pool managed by the municipality. Allemansrätten (the Right of Public Access) is one of Sweden's greatest treasures. Remember to respect it and show consideration for both animals and nature when visiting these bathing spots.
Näs
Located on the southern tip of Visingsö is Näs. Here you'll find both a pier extending into the water and a small sandy beach. There are benches, a barbecue area, and a gazebo perfect for a picnic near the pier. Additionally, there's a self-service kiosk offering cold drinks, snacks, and bicycle tools. Facilities include a toilet and a defibrillator. Näs Pier is maintained by Näs village association.
Sandudden
Sandudden is situated on the northern tip of Visingsö, right next to the golf course and airfields. It features a long, lovely sandy beach that's very popular in summer. There are benches for eating and dry toilets available. You can reach Sandudden by both car and bicycle.
Rökinge Brygga
On the western side of Visingsö, you'll find Rökinge Brygga, perfect for cooling off during a bike ride! There's a nice pier with a ladder into the water, benches, and a pleasant gazebo with a grill. Adjacent to the bathing area is a small stone beach and facilities for boat launching. There's also a toilet available. The easiest way to reach the pier is by bicycle; follow Rökingevägen all the way down to the water. Rökinge Brygga is managed by Rökinge Byallmänning.
Tunnerstad
Tunnerstad Pier is located on the island's western side. Here, you can barbecue and find some seating. It's easy to get here by both bicycle and car.
Gamla hamnen
Below Visingsborg Castle is the old harbor. Here you can enjoy a fantastic view of Lake Vättern and Gränna. Next to the marina, there's a small bathing spot with a sandy bottom and a bench.
Parola Malm
Parola Malm's Pier is on the eastern side of Visingsö, featuring a pier with a ladder into the water. This historic site became the landing place for the first regular boat connection between Visingsö and Mellby Strand – Grenna in 1783. There are nice grassy areas for a picnic right by the water, benches, and a barbecue area. Facilities include a toilet. Parola Malm is managed by Kumlaby village association.
Torps Badplats
Torp is a small and idyllic spot on Visingsö's western side. There's a pier with a ladder into the water, a small sandy beach, and clear water. At the bathing area, you'll find several benches and a barbecue spot. There's no toilet facility nearby. The easiest way to reach Torps Badplats is by bicycle; if coming from the harbor, turn left after Kumlabykiosken and follow the road all the way down to the water. Torps Badplats is managed by Torp village association.
Kumlabybadet
In the middle of Visingsö, you'll find an outdoor swimming facility with two heated pools. It's a perfect outing for families! There's a pool suitable for swimming and play, as well as a pool for younger children. There are also large grassy areas for playing, a small kiosk, sauna, and changing rooms. The facility is open during the summer.
