Take a ride on the southern part of Visingsö with the delightful Visingsötåget. Departing from the horse and carriage Remmalag platform in Visingsö harbour, this journey is an exciting experience for both adults and children.

Landmarks and historical sites along the way

The tourist train tour heads south on Visingsö, with the conductor providing guided commentary about the island's sights as you pass. The route includes the oak forest planted in the 1830s to supply timber for the navy's ships, ancient burial grounds dating back to the Stone Age, and several intriguing landmarks such as the Kungsladugårdarna farms and Brahekyrkan church.

The tourist train makes a stop at Näs, where you can take a short walk to the ruins of Visingsö Castle in Näs, believed to be Sweden’s oldest royal castle and the site where four medieval kings died. You also have the option to stop at Bengtsgården Mini Zoo to see the animals. You can choose to disembark at either Näs or Bengtsgården (both stops are included in the same tour).

Tickets

Tickets for the tourist train can be purchased directly from the driver; no pre-booking is required. The train operates according to a schedule from mid-June to mid-August. It accommodates 48 passengers, and the tour takes about 1.5 hours, including a stop at either Näs or Bengtsgården Mini Zoo.
