Magical boat trip on lakes Bunn and Ören
Save
Experience the wonderful surroundings that inspired artist John Bauer from the lakes of Bunn and Ören outside of Gränna. Here you can enjoy the beautiful lily-filled canal and listen to your guide's many stories about the area. Tours on the boat run regularly but can also be chartered for you and your companions.
Trolska boat tours run during the summer months. In June, the boat goes out on Saturdays and Sundays. From July until mid-August, the boat operates from Tuesdays to Sundays. The trip takes two hours and forty-five minutes.
On board the boat, you will be served tea, coffee and drinks, plus cake and sandwich rolls. If one boat tour is fully booked, then another trip will be laid on during the day. During the tour, the skipper will tell you about the different lake systems and about the artist John Bauer who lived at Lake Bunn during the last years of his life.
In 1992, Sigge Axelsson bought a boat that he named M/S John Bauer and thus started his magical boat tours on the lakes of Bunn, Ören and Kvarnsjöarna. This tour takes you on a fantastic journey in the surroundings where artist John Bauer found inspiration for his illustrations and fairy tales.
The tour starts in the small community of Bunnström at the northern end of Bunn and then takes you south towards the canal leading to Ören - watch out for the bridges over the canal because sometimes you have to duck! If you look really closely, there might be a little troll or fairy hiding in the forest. Yes, it's not hard to see where John Bauer got his inspiration from.
Today, Sigge's son Frederik runs Trolska Boat Tours.
You can also charter the boat for a company kick-off, a conference or a birthday party. The tour departs from Bauergården's jetty and takes about one and a half hours. At Stora Roten there is a conference centre where you can eat good food, play outdoor games or just hang out.
A couple of days in Gränna holds everything you could wish for during your holiday. Stunningly clear water, breathtaking views, gentle walks in magical forests, history, cycling along beautiful country roads or challenging MTB tracks, relaxing to magical sunsets, strolls down cobblestone alleys, deliciously good ice cream and of course – the pepparmint rock candy.
