Tabergstoppen

Taberg is one of Småland's most famous places and taking in the panoramic view from the top of its mountain is an amazing feeling. While you’re up there, why not enjoy a good cup of coffee and have a round of miniature golf.

When Carl Linnaeus saw the mountain in Taberg, it is said that he pronounced it ‘Småland's miracle’. The panoramic view from the top is staggeringly beautiful since the mountain rises 100 metres above its surroundings. A visit to Taberg's summit is a child-friendly outing and suitable for all ages. It’s as much a great day out for the family as for a group of friends.

Stunning views of Småland

From the top of the 343-metre-high mountain (above sea level), you can see 7 miles in every direction on a clear day. Here you can look out over Lake Vättern to the north and see the expanse of the Småland forests to the south. Experiencing that kind of view is something special.

Shrimp sandwich with panoramic views

The restaurant on the mountain top has an outdoor terrace with fantastic views of the Småland countryside. The restaurant is fully licensed and serves both food, beverages and pastries. The famous shrimp sandwich is a must for those who want the full experience of Tabergstoppen.

Even if the shrimp sandwich is Tabergstoppen’s signature dish, there is a substantial menu of Swedish home cooking for those who are hungry for something else. The menu varies a little according to the season. Fancy coffee and cake instead of a meal. No problem! There is also a wide range of cakes, buns and ice cream on offer.

The café is child-friendly and accessible, so it's no problem to come here with a pram, walker or wheelchair.

You can also bring your own teatime treat or picnic lunch to enjoy at the outdoor picnic tables.

Exciting miniature golf on a mountaintop terrain

Tabergstoppen also has a fun and exciting miniature golf course with fairways that follow the undulating terrain of the mountaintop. The course consists of 12 holes and is made up of different types of artificial grass with obstacles consisting of steep slopes and rocky areas.

Look out for beautiful cars

During the summer, you may be lucky enough to experience a spontaneous gathering of motor enthusiasts in the car park. Car-lovers gather to show off everything from vintage motors to newer models.

The hike to the top takes about half an hour and goes through terrain of varying inclines. Take the train to Taberg station or bus to Taberg town centre, walk south to Taberg mine or north to Masugnsstigen and the hiking trail.

If you prefer to go by car, then you can drive all the way up to the car park at the top. If you are coming from Jönköping, turn left onto Nissanvägen before you reach the roundabout to Tabergs centrum. Take the next left onto Bergvägen and follow the road up to Tabergstoppen.

You can easily get to Taberg by bus but be prepared for a steep hike up to the top. From the centre of Jönköping, take line 27 towards Taberg.
