Diffrent loops around the valley

Discover hiking loops of varying lengths and levels of difficulty. From short walks just over 1 km, perfect for families with young children, to longer trails suitable for full-day hikes or even two-day treks with an overnight stay.

Starting at the information point between Hotel Taberg and Taberg station, you’ll find 16 different loops to choose from. A large map at the start explains the trail system and helps you navigate. Since all the trails are loops, you’ll always end up back at your starting point without arranging extra transport.

The trails are named after compass directions: North (N), East (E), South (S), and West (W). The further the trail stretches in a direction, the higher the number. All trails in a direction share the same start before splitting off. They can be hiked clockwise or counterclockwise and vary in length and difficulty. Taberg is hilly, with some trails featuring significant climbs of up to 150 meters.

In addition to the 16 forest and countryside loops, there are six central trails on hard surfaces, all accessibility-adapted. Two start from Taberg station (C1 and C2), two from the Industrial Museum at Bruket in Norrahammar (C1 and C2), one from the sports field in Månsarp (C), and one from the heritage center in Hovslätt (C).

Activities along the trails

Taberg 343 is not just about hiking – activities have also been created along some trails.

  • Families with children can enjoy playgrounds and sports fields passed along the way.
  • At Åsabadet and Tahebadet you can cool off with a swim.
  • On trail E2 you’ll find The Gnomes’ Hidden Alphabet: wooden signs with letters placed on trees. Kids can tick off letters, write them down, or challenge themselves to find the whole alphabet. The first letter is located just after the gate by Lake Tahesjön.
  • Fishing opportunities are available along several trails, for example around Månsarpasjön (fishing permit required).

Taberg Mountain is a highlight in itself, worth experiencing both from the Gruvgården at its base and from the summit. Guided tours inside the mountain start from Gruvgården, which also hosts a bat museum. As part of the project, a new mine tunnel has been secured and a staircase built, making more guided tours possible.

For stunning views, we recommend trails W2–4 (2.8–13.3 km) leading to the summit of Taberg, or N4 (22.5 km) to Varkullen.

Many cultural and historical points of interest along the trails are marked with QR codes – about 150 in total – offering stories, images, and history in Swedish, English, and German.

Tabergsådalen

Månsarp, Taberg, Norrahammar, and Hovslätt together form the Tabergsådalen, the valley through which the Taberg River flows. Here, you'll breathe in Swedish industrial history and encounter breathtaking nature, entrepreneurship, and creativity. At the top of Taberg, 343 meters above sea level, you can enjoy an incredible view while savouring the famous shrimp sandwich.
