Outdoor area with beautiful views over Gränna, Visingsö, and lake Vättern
Experience popular Grännaberget, a place for both outdoor activities and those who enjoy fika. Here you will find rich nature and many beautiful views over lake Vättern, Visingsö, and Gränna.
Grännaberget is an outdoor area close to and high above the idyllic town, with a 70-meter elevation difference between them. From Bergsvägen, Södra Parken, or Franssons polkagrisar, you can walk up to Grännaberget. It is steep but has good walking paths, partly stairs.
On the mountain, there is an outdoor museum, well-marked exercise trails, illuminated trails, an outdoor gym, MTB trails, a summer café, barbecue areas, and toilets.
In the idyllic natural area, there are pastures, forests, giant trees, and abundant hazel and linden. Here, Holavedsleden and John Bauerleden start or end. In the northeast, Åsabäcken flows, well worth a visit.
One of the hiking trails starting from Grännaberget takes you to the observation tower Tegnértornet, 2.5 km east.
Beautiful views give you a great appetite, and at Kaffestugan on Grännaberget, which is open in summer, you will find many delicious fika options. All sandwiches are made à la minute on freshly baked bread. It is said that their shrimp sandwiches are famous far beyond Småland's borders. In addition to the famous shrimp sandwiches, you can enjoy other sandwiches and pastries.
John Bauer drew much of his inspiration for his trolls and figures here in the forests. He gave the trolls large noses and long, dark hair. John Bauer wanted to convey a connection between nature, the forest, the trolls, and ourselves through his art. Maybe you will meet some of the trolls on the mountain during your visit.
On Midsummer's Eve, traditional Midsummer celebrations are held with a decorated Midsummer pole, entertainment, games around the pole, serving, chocolate wheel, and lotteries. You can also celebrate Walpurgis Night with a picnic in front of the Walpurgis fire.
A couple of days in Gränna holds everything you could wish for during your holiday. Stunningly clear water, breathtaking views, gentle walks in magical forests, history, cycling along beautiful country roads or challenging MTB tracks, relaxing to magical sunsets, strolls down cobblestone alleys, deliciously good ice cream and of course – the pepparmint rock candy.
Grännaberget is located on the height above the town of Gränna.
