Sweden’s largest (and perhaps only?) ice cream buffet!
Save
Take a break this summer and relax on the outdoor terrace, surrounded by the unique oak forest with breathtaking views of lake Vättern. Indulge in a self-created ice cream cup from Sweden’s largest ice cream buffet. Glasshuset / Restaurang Ek is located by the harbour on Visingsö.
Glasshuset Visingsö opened in 2017, right in the heart of the island’s attractions, next to Wisingsborg’s garden, Brahekyrkan, Kungsladugårdar, Visingsborg Castle Ruins, the harbour area, Remmalagen, and scenic walking and cycling trails along the waterfront. It’s the perfect place to start your island adventure or take a relaxing break after exploring. In 2022, Glasshuset was joined by Restaurang Ek, adding a full dining experience to the location.
Glasshuset is home to Sweden’s largest ice cream buffet, offering 27 varieties of scoop ice cream, soft-serve, and an extensive selection of sprinkles and toppings, allowing you to mix and match flavours however you like.
If you prefer something simpler, Glasshuset also serves pre-packaged ice cream, and there’s even a special ice cream for dogs, so your four-legged friend doesn’t have to miss out on the treat.
Restaurang Ek, located in the same building, serves à la carte dishes and traditional Swedish cuisine with a full drinks menu.
On warm summer days, guests are encouraged to sit outdoors under the shade of the ancient oak trees, originally planted centuries ago for royal shipbuilding. The restaurant provides spacious seating areas that are family-friendly and dog-friendly, ensuring a comfortable experience for all guests.
Glasshuset / Restaurang Ek is seasonally open during the summer months. Check Facebook or Instagram for exact dates and times.
The restaurant is within walking distance of Visingsborg Castle Ruins, Remmalagen, and Wisingsborg’s garden. If you’re planning a tour of Visingsö, you can cycle through the oak forest to Bengtsgården and visit their mini animals farm.
Take the ferry from Gränna to Visingsö, a gem in Lake Vättern with stunning nature and a rich history tied to the powerful Brahe family. Don’t miss Brahe Church, home to a wealth of artistic treasures. The island is easy to explore by bike or by horse-drawn carriage – remmalag. Here, you're close to nature and can meet alpacas, go horseback riding, or paddle a kayak.
