On Grännaberget, you will find GBOK MTB Arena, a well-maintained and challenging arena for the whole family, where both experienced riders and beginners, as well as younger children, can find their challenges.
Many know that Gränna is a gem for all cycling enthusiasts. Cycling to Gränna on a road bike is, of course, more than excellent. After a coffee stop and a polkagris among the cosy wooden houses, the road cyclist usually continues towards Uppgränna or eastwards.
However, if you are on a mountain bike, preferably an enduro bike or another full-suspension MTB model, you will discover that there is every reason to stay.
Up on Grännaberget, with a fantastic view over lake Vättern, lies GBOK MTB Arena. Here, clearly marked XC trails are mixed with machine- and hand-dug flow trails and tougher enduro loops.
The XC trails come in two different lengths: the white trail is 2.7 km and the yellow trail is 4.8 km.
For those who want to ride downhill on a trail, there are five marked enduro trails: Bergatrollet, Trollmor, Flygtrollet, Skogsrå, and Vätten.
In the arena area, there is also a "skills area" offering a jump zone with jumps of varying difficulty, a pump track, and a "skills trail" with various challenges – in short, something for everyone!
The association also highlights nine recommended trails for trail riding in the area, ranging from 2 to 38 km long.
See maps and GPX files on the website.
Although the MTB track in Gränna has everything one could wish for, it can be good to have some extra time to find out where the trails beyond GBOK's marked signs lead.
Around Grännaberget, there are signs that real trail enthusiasts have long found their way here. Well-crafted berms and jumps are mixed with carefully improved natural singletrack to get just the right feel. Someone has done that little extra to get the best out of every turn.
If there is something magical about the forests around Småland, the cyclist in Gränna rather gets the feeling of a jungle. Grännaberget and its surroundings also offer about 200 meters of elevation and thus a fantastic view over lake Vättern and Grännabygden.
Thanks to the magical nature on Grännaberget, the area is visited by many who want to enjoy nature and its environment on foot as well.
Around the mountain, there are walking trails of varying lengths, and quiz walks are often organized here. Therefore, it is important that everyone respects each other and has a bell on their bike.
In addition to a fantastic arena full of cycling adventures, there is also a barbecue area and shelter right next to the bike tracks. Here you can bring your own food or coffee for a lovely outdoor picnic.
Near Gränna MTB, you will also find Kaffestugan on Grännaberget. Here you can enjoy coffee, light lunches, and a somewhat famous shrimp sandwich in a wonderful environment with views over the entire southern lake Vättern.
Next to the arena, there is parking for motorhomes, caravans, and tents. In the GBOK lodge, there is also a public toilet with a shower and a bike wash station so you can rinse off your bike before leaving if needed.
When you go to GBOK to cycle, you must not miss visiting Gränna. You can easily get around Gränna by bike to see and experience everything the area has to offer – which is far more than just polkagrisar.
Röttle, just south of Gränna, is a great excursion destination to reach by bike, where you can take a dip or enjoy the magnificent waterfall and historic Rasmus mill.
Another tip is to cycle up to Tegnértornet and from there enjoy the view over Bunn, Ören, lake Vättern, and as many as four nearby landscapes.
A couple of days in Gränna holds everything you could wish for during your holiday. Stunningly clear water, breathtaking views, gentle walks in magical forests, history, cycling along beautiful country roads or challenging MTB tracks, relaxing to magical sunsets, strolls down cobblestone alleys, deliciously good ice cream and of course – the pepparmint rock candy.
