In a former industrial space in Norrahammar, just outside Jönköping, stoneware is shaped with soul and intention. At CAJO Keramik, function, art, and sustainability meet, and you’re welcome to both shop and create.
As part of the creative hub “Terminal 31,” housed in Norrahammar’s old factory buildings, ceramicist Carina Johansson runs her own studio and store under the name CAJO Keramik. Here she crafts handmade stoneware tableware in earthy tones, often in collaboration with restaurants seeking unique and sustainable pieces to enhance their dining experience.
The studio is full of character, from the worn concrete floor to the beautiful iron-framed windows, where autumn light filters in across the workbenches.
Carina’s studio and shop are open to visitors who want to be inspired, purchase one-of-a-kind pieces, or discuss custom orders, whether for personal use or professional settings.
For those who want to get hands-on, Cajo Keramik also offers introductory workshops. Perfect for bachelorette or bachelor parties, family outings, or company events. Over the course of a few creative hours, participants can try their hand at wheel throwing, slab building, pinching, or sculpting — perhaps the beginning of a lifelong love affair with clay.
CAJO is located in the historic industrial premises of Norrahammar, alongside a vibrant community of entrepreneurs and creatives. The site's industrial history dates back to the 19th century, when Wilhelm Spångberg established a factory for casting and machining. The ironworks expanded significantly, and an entire community - today's Norrahammar - grew around it.
In the early 1990s, the ironworks closed, and many buildings were demolished. However, some remained, and these have now become a hub for inspiration and creativity.
Over the past few years, Bruket has evolved into a vibrant destination for food, culture, and unique shopping experiences.
Månsarp, Taberg, Norrahammar, and Hovslätt together form the Tabergsådalen, the valley through which the Taberg River flows. Here, you'll breathe in Swedish industrial history and encounter breathtaking nature, entrepreneurship, and creativity. At the top of Taberg, 343 meters above sea level, you can enjoy an incredible view while savoring the famous shrimp sandwich. Discover scenic hiking trails, Norrahammar Museum, the Tabergsgruvan and Bruket in Norrahammar
