Coffee and cake, or a lunch break in a historic, flourishing herb garden
Save
In Wisingsborgs Trädgård, you can still experience the place where Visingsborg Castle's herb garden once stood. Here you can enjoy lunch, a Swedish ‘fika’ of coffee with maybe a pastry or bun, or a refreshing drink among the magnificent flowers and herbs both outdoors and inside the old, rustic farm building.
The garden has everything from spices and medicinal plants to colourful, ornamental flowers and fruit trees. A visit to Wisingsborgs Trädgård is a treat for all the senses – inhale the floral scents, feast your eyes on the colours and enjoy!
The garden is located on the same site as one of Visingsborg Castle's five historic gardens, and you can see Count Per Brahe the Younger's presence everywhere in the garden. The yellow flag fluttering in the wind is adorned with the Brahe coat of arms.
The entrance cottage is built of hand-crafted timber from the old Brahe estate, Lyckås, the wind vane on the roof is a copy of the one at Bogesund Castle in Uppland where Per Brahe died in 1680.
In summer, there is a café inside the garden, where you can sit with a home baked bun or pastry and enjoy the beautiful garden. The garden menu also offers a selection of tasty salads, prawn sandwiches, salmon platters and burgers for lunch. Drinks include coffee, soft drinks, beer, wine and cocktails.
Try their popular shrimp sandwiches, pulled pork burgers, apple pie or a slice of ryttarkaka.
If you want to have your wedding, wedding party or birthday party here, then it is possible to book the garden.
Take the ferry from Gränna to Visingsö, a gem in Lake Vättern with stunning nature and a rich history tied to the powerful Brahe family. Don’t miss Brahe Church, home to a wealth of artistic treasures. The island is easy to explore by bike or by horse-drawn carriage – remmalag. Here, you're close to nature and can meet alpacas, go horseback riding, or paddle a kayak.
