Farm shop and orchard in Äppledalen
Save
Discover the beautiful apple orchards between lake Vättern and lake Landsjön. During the apple blossom season, the valley undulates between the two lakes. Mostly apples are grown here, but also some pears.
In the farm shop, not only the home-grown fruits are sold but also other local products such as potatoes, eggs, honey, cold-pressed rapeseed oil from Drättinge gård, and freshly roasted coffee.
Here, you will find jelly, juice, and cider made from the farm's apples. The farm also produces alcoholic beverages sold at Systembolaget in the local area.
The shop is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. On the farm, you will also find a coffee roastery, which is a great stop when cycling around lake Landsjön.
On the strip between lake Vättern and lake Landsjön, fruit trees have been cultivated for hundreds of years. Nowadays, the area is part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and is located in what we call Äppledalen.
In the 1930s, apple orchards began to be established at Bosgård, and soon there was a large orchard. In 1978, the Knutsson family took over the farm and the orchard, which has developed into the approximately 12-hectare orchard it is today. Most of it is apples, but there are also some pear trees. There are between 30,000 and 40,000 trees here.
North of Huskvarna, you’ll find Småland’s very own Tuscany – Äppledalen, the Apple Valley. Here, over 100,000 apple trees grow at Rudenstams and Vistakulle Fruit Orchards. This idyllic getaway is part of the East Vätterbranterna Biosphere Reserve and offers breathtaking views over Lake Landsjön and Lake Vättern, scenic orchards, nature reserves, local leather craftsmanship, interior design shops, charming countryside cafés, and farm stores. It’s the perfect complement to the buzz of the city.
Vistakulle fruktodling is part of Food Around Gränna, an initiative created by local producers and entrepreneurs who want to support a vibrant countryside and locally produced ingredients. The shops, farm cafés, and restaurants are open year-round and are happy to show you how they make their delicacies.
During the Ascension Day weekend each year, all businesses invite you to the food tour, where the participants have the same opening hours and offer tastings and fun activities for both young and old. See all the participants who are part of Mat runt Gränna
