An urban-close and steep hike through lush noble deciduous forest
Save
Pustaleden is an urban-close hike of 1.8 km in the heart of Huskvarna. It is a loop trail with a 100-meter elevation gain that takes you along Huskvarnaån and past several cultural and historical buildings.
Huskvarna's most urban-close hiking trail, Pustaleden, is a short but intense and rewarding trail. With a 100-meter elevation gain, it is challenging in places with several bridges and steep stairs. The scenic trail goes through lush noble deciduous forests and past giant trees, protected beech trees, and 300-year-old oaks.
The trail starts just below Husqvarna Museum, where you can see many of the products manufactured by one of the world's oldest and most versatile industrial companies, Husqvarna AB. Along the trail, you can also see several culturally and historically valuable buildings such as Smedbyn, Husqvarna AB, Ebbe's power station, and Örjansgården.
Pustaleden follows the course of Huskvarnaån, whose water flows in a large green tube to generate electricity. On "Fallens dag" in August, the water is released in its full force. The stream and the water power in the falls are the reasons why a rifle factory was built here in the late 1600s. A couple of hundred years later, it developed into Husqvarna AB, the large industry through which Huskvarna is known.
If you wish to delve into Huskvarna's industrial history and the development of Husqvarna AB, an audio guide is offered along Pustaleden. There is a QR code on-site that you can scan with your mobile phone to access the audio story.
The right of public access (Allemansrätten) allows you to explore Sweden’s nature. This unique privilege is based on shared responsibility, requiring everyone to respect wildlife, nature, landowners, and fellow outdoor enthusiasts.
Enjoy the outdoors - but know the rules!
Gazing out over Lake Vättern, the giant Vist stands tall in Huskvarna. Here, striking contrasts meet — between stunning natural surroundings and the historic Husqvarna Factory, established in 1689 to produce weapons for the Swedish military. At the Husqvarna Museum, you can explore everything from sewing machines and motorcycles to modern-day chainsaws and lawnmowers. Nearby, Smedbyn offers a charming mix of history, art galleries, and craft studios. Since 1925, Huskvarna Folkets Park has been a beloved venue for music, theatre, festivals, and fairs.
