Cosplay

Watch people transform into Link, Superwoman or Super Mario during DreamHack’s cosplay event. Each year, DreamHack organises a cosplay competition where the winner can win money or a trip and accommodation for next year’s DreamHack event.

Cosplay originates from Japan and it means to dress up like a specific character. The characters that are often seen at these events are manga, comic book characters, cartoons, video games or different kinds of anime. The cosplay costumes can be of great variety with everything from clothing within specific themes or with fairytalelike details. Compared to Halloween and Mardi Gras, here, the point is instead to resemble the character in more detail rather than just representing a figure. Besides the clothing, the cosplay actor in certain cases tries to resemble the character’s personal traits, such as voice, quotes or body language.
