5 May 2026
Historic Visingsö invites both young and old to take part in a treasure hunt around the island. Follow Per Brahe, search for clues and make your way towards his hidden treasure. A fun adventure for the whole family.
The treasure hunt on Visingsö has become a popular tradition for visitors of all ages. Since 2020, the treasure map has invited families to go on a discovery trail from Erstad in the north to Näs in the south. The treasure hunt is not only an activity suitable for the whole family – it is also an exciting and enjoyable way to explore the island.
In this year’s treasure hunt, children get to follow Per Brahe on an adventure. By solving clues and completing tasks, they move step by step closer to his hidden treasure, while encountering elements of Visingsö’s history and using logical thinking in a playful way.
There are two alternative treasure hunt routes: one heading south and one heading north on the island. You choose whether you want to follow the northern or the southern route. Along the way, you pass five stops where you collect five clues needed to open the treasure chest.
This route is approximately 10 km long and is suitable for both cycling and travelling by car.
This route is approximately 11 km long and is suitable for both cycling and travelling by car. The Visingsö Train also runs to Bengtsgården.
You can reach the stops on the map by walking, cycling or driving, but we recommend cycling. Bicycles are available for hire on Visingsö and it is advisable to book in advance. You can start your adventure at whichever stop you choose.
The treasure hunt is accessible to everyone, with a recommended age range of 5–13 years.
Per Brahe the Younger was a count in the 17th century and one of the most important figures in Visingsö’s history. He lived on the island for long periods and held great power over how Visingsö developed during his time.
Treasure maps can be found at several locations, including at Gränna harbour in the mailboxes near the ferry, in the waiting room at Visingsö harbour, at Tempelgården and at Persgården. You can also download the treasure map as a pdf. pdf, 1.3 MB.
