Experience a café like no other! Kålgården Mushroom Farm is a small café and farm shop set up in containers in central Jönköping. Inside, the delicious oyster mushrooms are grown using organic coffee grounds collected from local restaurants.
Kålgården Mushroom Farm is run by Jönköping Cultivations, a group of enthusiasts dedicated to making use of local by-products. In two containers near the popular Kålgården playground, oyster mushrooms are cultivated using coffee grounds collected from nearby cafés.
The farm shop offers a variety of products, including locally roasted coffee, locally produced apple juice, and ice cream from Gränna. You can also buy frozen mushroom pizza and mushroom burgers – the mushrooms are grown right behind the counter, making it as local as it gets!
In addition to mushrooms, the team also runs a local fish farm, raising tropical fish like Nile tilapia and African catfish, which are also available for purchase.
Take the opportunity to experience a café beyond the ordinary while exploring a range of local products.
Next to Kålgården Mushroom Farm is Kålgårdsparken, featuring a stroller-friendly circular trail, a modern playground, outdoor gym, labyrinth, and dog park. The park borders Rocksjön Nature Reserve and is close to John Bauer Park and Knektaparken, offering peaceful natural surroundings.
For families, Jönköping’s very own science center, Upptech, is nearby – perfect for children eager for fun learning experiences.
Jönköping is one of Sweden’s oldest cities, beautifully located by the shores of three lakes. Discover magnificent nature, a long sandy beach right in the city, the fascinating history of the match industry, and the magical art of John Bauer! Stroll through charming alleys, visit museums and libraries, explore shops, dine at cosy restaurants, and stay at welcoming hotels. With a university that attracts students from all over the world, the city has a vibrant and international feel.
